SimpleGPS
SimpleGPS is an iPhone application that acts, as you might expect, as a simple GPS. It loads fast, and does not display any maps. This means you can get useful information from it quickly, without needing any kind of internet connection*.
Features:
- Displays your location, and orientation quickly on the main screen.
- Night mode use your GPS at night without ruining your eyesight.
- Make notes attached to your waypoints: Note down why you need to be somewhere or the details of a geocache.
- Displays your height (given a good enough GPS lock).
- Displays accuracy levels.
- Shows direction, and distance to waypoints.
- Support for metric and imperial units.
- Compass can orientate based on your orientation, point north upwards, or when dragged, point in any direction you chose.
New in version 1.0.2
- Added support for copying data from the GPS screen.
- Altitudes are displayed in meters and feet, never miles and kilometers.
New in version 1.0.1:
- Improved the display of orientation and accuracy.
- Added background to waypoint text on compass display. Your closest waypoint will be displayed on top.
- Stopped waypoint names from drawing all the way across the compass.
- Improved behaviour while pasting into the latitude/longitude boxes for waypoints.
- Fixed bug that could result in incorrectly parsed coordinate input.
- Fixed bug that caused waypoint names to appear upside down.
* Location without internet connection requires an iPhone 3G or 3Gs and strong enough GPS reception. Other devices will give a location only when connected to the internet. No location will be available while the iPhone is in aeroplane mode.
